Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are increasingly being used in the Life Sciences field to perform research programmes that may result in new inventions being created. For innovator companies, it is important to know if such inventions are patentable. The present note provides a brief overview and commentary on patentability of AI and ML related inventions in Europe.
